Definitely SUCCESS is what we see!
Underway at our local community learning centers (21st Century SUCCESS Program) are many activities that offer academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment for students before and/or after school and during the summertime. It’s a free program serving eligible students in grades 2 through 5 at Armin Jahr, View Ridge, and West Hills STEM in Bremerton that has certainly enhanced the creative opportunities for Willow Baker’s inspired entry titled “I’ve been up in the clouds my entire life” into the PTA sponsored Reflections Art Recognition Program.
As Willow’s entry was chosen for the state competition on January 12, 2017, 21st Century SUCCESS Program Manager Erin Quinn expressed her proud support, “I’m so proud of Willow for having the bravery to express her thoughts and feelings through this wonderful creative outlet. SUCCESS has grown tremendously because of our community partnerships, and the Reflections Art Recognition Program is an awesome example of how these partnerships can instill confidence and creativity in our students.”
Reflections is one of the many activities students engage in while participating in the school program. In this case, Bremerton School District Volunteer Coordinator Joyce Cowdery linked SUCCESS with the Bremerton PTSA Reflections Chair Gayla Tatro to bring this community partnership to students in our learning centers. This is one of several wonderful examples of community partnerships that provide services to our SUCCESS students to help them with their school work and participate in enrichment activities in an environment where they are comfortable until they go home for the day.
Congratulations Willow! Thank you for sharing your piece with us and we hope you keep winning!
