Student Services Center

Vision, Mission and Goals

Vision: The OESD 114 Student Services Center's vision is to improve the health of all students within the OESD region by effectively implementing a comprehensive school-based continuum of prevention, intervention, treatment and aftercare service model that serves youth impacted by alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and/or violence.

Mission: To provide a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental environment where students and their families are empowered to make healthy choices which enhance personal growth, increase student academic achievement and promote alcohol, tobacco and other drug free lifestyles.

Goals:

  1. To increase family, school and community support networks for all youth in an effort to reduce the prevalence of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use (ATOD), and violence.
  2. To improve the quality of student functioning in the local school districts within the OESD region by reducing students’ harmful behaviors related to ATOD use and violence leading to failing grades, truancy and multiple suspensions from school.
  3. Provide leadership, coordination and technical assistance that focus on capacity building for local schools/districts to effectively address youth ATOD use and violence issues/crisis response.
  4. To coordinate staff development opportunities related to alcohol, tobacco, other drug use and violence prevention, and promote safe schools and effective policies for the OESD region.
