Secondary Transition Services
The Kitsap County Transition Council meets regularly during the school year. The Council's membership includes representatives from school districts, state and federal agencies as well as other community services. The Transition Council goals are:
To create awareness about transition issues among educators and to implement a system to inform and share information annually;
To inform transition-age students and parents of post-school options; to reach a greater population;
To conduct a review of available services, programs, and eligibility information for students.
Each fall, the Transition Council sponsors a Parent Information Night at some of the following school districts: Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Central Kitsap, North Kitsap, and South Kitsap. Click on this link to see this years schedule: Parent/Student Information Night Information 2011.
If your school does not have Parent Information Night scheduled in the current year, you are always welcome to attend at another school. Parents and students are invited to learn about the community agencies and services that are available to assist students with disabilities, and their families.
A panel presentation includes representative from Kitsap County agencies, such as:
Division of Developmental Disabilities
Division of Vocational Rehabiliation
Olympic College
West Sound Technical Skills Center
Employment Services
Social Security, and more.
Transition Council Meeting dates for 2011-2012 school year are:
October 19, 2011
November 30, 2011
February 15, 2012
April 18, 2012
May 16, 2012 and
June 6, 2013 (if needed).
Meetings are from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. and are held at the Olympic ESD 114, 105 National Ave. N, Bremerton.
